I believe that if you want to know more about something that you should pick up a book or an article and read about it. I got back into reading when I started my real estate career. Reading has really helped me put useful knowledge into my mind (because reality tv was a habit I had to kick to be more productive) and I have found that it has helped me further my spiritual and personal growth. Below are some of the books that I have read this year along with how I have applied them to my life.
- The Sell by Fredrik Eklund
I love that show Million Dollar Listing! Frederik is a riot on the show, he has the biggest personality, so naturally I had to order his book off of Amazon. The book basically teaches you how to sell yourself. He talks about the importance of branding and being yourself, and finding your niche. This book helped me gain more confidence in my ability to close deals and gain clients trust by being myself
2. The Power of Now & A New Earth by Eckart Toll
This book really got me started on my spiritual journey. It taught me so much about how to deal with my mind. I know a lot of people complain that they just cannot slow their mind down and it just makes them depressed and feel hopeless. Eckart Toll really breaks down that voice in your head and how to stop it from running your life. Toll also speaks on our ego and the pain body, these are things that love running on negativity. Definitely worth the read if you are experiencing adulting anxiety and things of that nature.
3. The Mastery of Love
My husband bought me this book for mothers day. Miguel Ruiz packs soooo much into those little books it’s amazing! This book basically talks about how you can’t truly love others until you love yourself. That is such an important concept to grasp because without self love, blessings can’t flow.
4. The Four Agreements
This is another one Miguel Ruiz’s little books of awesome! I’m not going to spoil what all the four agreements are for those that actually want to read the book but I will say something that has helped me tremendously in real estate and life is DO NOT TAKE ANYTHING PERSONALLY. Even if that thing is really good or really bad, do not take it personally. This has helped me ease the stress of losing clients, being yelled at, family issues, friendships etc. Realizing that the things people do or say aren’t against you it is actually against themselves. That’s a relief for sure!
5. The 48 Laws of Power
Fun fact: 50 Cent made this book famous and he even collaborated with Robert Green on an extension of the book. This novel really helped me to learn how to deal with people and situations more fluently. I know when I used to come across difficult people my problem was trying to change them or their perception, but I’ve learned that sometimes you just have to walk away. Some people are not worth trying to save in the end, and some people you just cannot negotiate with.
6. Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill
I believe that EVERYONE that is pursuing something different in life should read this book. I believe it was one of the reasons my husband quit his 9-5. This book gives you the foundation you need to work for yourself. It teaches you how to set goals, and how to change your mindset to be great. The book gives examples of regular men that have done extraordinary things, simply because they changed their thinking patterns.
7. Why We Want You to be Rich by Donald Trump and Richard Kiyosaki
I know that Donald Trump is not the most popular guy in the world (blah blah blah). Call me a bit optimistic but I picked up one of his books, in hopes to get a better understanding of where this guy was coming from. Why We Want You to be Rich, is an excellent read if you want to know more about finance, investing, establishing cash flow, etc. Richard Kiyosaki is the guy that wrote all the Rich Dad Poor Dad books. If you can get over the media, and accept that “Donald Trump is a billionaire that basically bought the white house, and if he can do it I can do it”, then I definitely suggest you pick up with book.
I’m constantly reading new books. Mario and I have a whole stack of books that we haven’t tackled yet. But once I finish another portion of our book shelf, I’ll blog again with more reading suggestions. I also love to get reading suggestions from other people! I want my reading list to be never ending. If you have any suggestions please comment them on Facebook or in the comments section of this blog!
